JOLIET— A Joliet Central High School senior is gaining recognition from one of the NFL’s most storied franchises for her leadership both on and off the field.
According to Joliet Township High School District officials, the Chicago Bears have named Georgiana Majerus as the fourth recipient of the 2026 Community High School All-Star Award, presented in partnership with Athletico Physical Therapy.
The award highlights high school student-athletes across the region during March and April who demonstrate leadership, strong character, and a commitment to making a difference beyond sports.
Majerus, a senior at Joliet Central High School, was nominated by her coaches, who cited her consistent leadership and dedication to others. District officials said she has built a reputation for accountability and compassion throughout her high school career.

Her impact extends beyond athletics. Majerus has spent years volunteering at her local church, where she helps lead youth programming through kids’ ministry and day camp initiatives. In those roles, she organizes activities, mentors younger children, and helps create a structured environment for participants.
She has also volunteered with Special Olympics, assisting with events and supporting programs that provide inclusive opportunities for individuals of all abilities. Through that work, she helps create an environment focused on participation and connection.
In the classroom, Majerus maintains a strong academic record while balancing athletics and service commitments. She is a member of the school’s Sign Language Honor Society, where students promote Deaf culture, advocacy, and communication. The program aligns with her interest in building skills to better connect with the Deaf and hard-of-hearing community.
Majerus has also taken part in the school’s FORGE leadership development program, which focuses on communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. District officials said those experiences have helped her strengthen skills that carry across her academic, athletic, and community involvement.
On the field, Majerus plays a key role as a team captain for Joliet Central’s girls flag football team. The program, launched in 2025, is part of a growing sport supported by the Chicago Bears in recent years. Majerus contributes as both a quarterback and running back while helping guide teammates, many of whom are new to the game.
Her performance has also earned recognition, including an honorable mention selection to the 2025 Herald-News Flag Football All-Area Team.
As part of the award, Majerus will receive a custom hand-painted football, a gift bag, and an invitation to a future Chicago Bears event. The Bears will also donate $500 to a charitable organization of her choice.
